Dave Chappelle Discusses Police Killings in Trailer for Season 3 of 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction'

"I don't want retroactive justice. I don't want you to get them after I'm dead."

We're now only a few weeks out from the return of David Letterman's Netflix interview series, My Next Guest Needs No IntroductionAnd ahead of the show's season three premiere, the streamer has released a trailer, showcasing the full roster of upcoming guests, including Dave Chappelle, Lizzo, Robert Downey Jr., and Kim Kardashian-West.

Trailing his subjects across a range of topics and venues (and, of course, back to the studio,) Letterman's charm is in full-effect, discussing police brutality with Chappelle, hopping on and off the comedian's Yellow Springs, Ohio farm ("I was shocked that nobody ever talked about what it feels like to watch a man get murdered that way by a man in a police uniform,") body shaming with Lizzo at her home studio ("When I was wearing a leotard onstage and saying ‘I love myself,’ people were like, 'How dare she love herself? How could she?',") a stint in prison with RDJ, and something particularly sensitive with Kardashian-West, who's caught welling up during her segment on the show.

For Chappelle, as well as most of this season's guests, it marks a rare interview appearance and his first since the release of the stark and sobering Netflix special, 8:46, in which he almost exclusively spoke on the plague of police killings across the country, centering on the murder of George Floyd, naming the special after the amount of time Floyd's neck was kneeled on.

Previous seasons of the series have featured intimate one-on-ones with prestigious entertainers and cultural figures, including Barack Obama, Kanye West, JAY-Z, Tina Fey, Tiffany Haddish, and Malala Yousafzai, amongst others.

Watch the official trailer for the third season of Netflix's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction above. Hold tight for the premiere on October 21st.
