An unreleased demo of the shelved 16-bit game has been unearthed.

25 years after it was intended for release, a prototype for an abandoned Akiravideo game has surfaced.

According to Screen Rant, game preservationists, Hidden Palace, discovered an incomplete demo for a 1995 game adaptation of the iconic anime that couldn't be played cover-to-cover. However, certain levels can be selected, and an hour-long playthrough video has been uploaded. See it below.

The excavation arrives on the heels of production delays for Taika Waititi's live-action take on the anime film, which was held up to make room for his upcoming Thor sequel. But the Marvel director isn't the only one cooking up new material. Akira creator, Katsuhiro Otomo, announced that he's begun developing a series based on his original manga, along with a 4k restoration of the film (set for an April 24th, 2020 release,) and a new project, Orbital Era.
