The Travis Scott McDonald's Meal Keeps Selling Out Due to Viral TikTok Trends

Fans are recording themselves playing Travis Scott songs in drive-thru windows.

It's been just over a week since McDonald's announced the Travis Scott meal, and the rush to buy one is causing issues at stores across the country. On Wednesday, McDonald's confirmed that there have been shortages of certain ingredients due to the recent promotion.

"It's been so lit, some of our restaurants have temporarily sold out of some of the ingredients in the meal," the company said in a statement. "We're working closely with our suppliers, distributors, and franchisees to resupply impacted restaurants as quickly as possible."

The meal consists of a quarter pounder with cheese, bacon and lettuce, a Sprite, and fries with BBQ sauce. According to CNN, it's the first time a celebrity has had their name on a menu item since the McJordan in the 1990s.

Business Insider reports that in an internal memo, the company is asking franchisees to make sure employees recognize catchphrases referencing the meal, like "the Fortnite guy burger," or instances in which customers simply say "you know why I am here," while playing Scott's music. The latter instance has become a trend on TikTok, providing even more free promotion for an already-popular meme.

The company is temporarily controlling the supply of some ingredients like Quarter Pounder fresh beef, bacon, slivered onions and shredded lettuce.

"Stay tuned," the company continued, "and don't worry, we've got more surprises from Cactus Jack coming soon."

McDonalds' last collaboration with Rick and Morty caused a similar reaction back in 2017. Demand grew so significantly, McDonald's had to bring the special Szechuan sauce back months later.
