"Thug Passion Presents" Brings ‘Belly’ To Brooklyn In Hilarious Table Reading Event
Shalewa Sharpe partners up with Courtney Fearrington to bring a touch of comedy to the black cinematic classic, Belly.
Anyone familiar with the local Brooklyn comedy scene knows that Shalewa Sharpe is one of the sharpest (pun intended) minds in the game. Getting her start in Atlanta, Sharpe has shined amongst other talented comics at Night Train with Wyatt Cenac and festivals like RiotLA.
Together with Courtney Fearrington (Bentzen Ball, SiriusXM) — this dynamic duo of gut-busting funny have put together a new event for the masses to be entertained by: Thug Passion Presents. This coming Jan. 14, Thug Passion Presents will hold a table reading series interpreting a black cinematic classic that will have you stomping your feet while wearing neon-colored contact lenses.
Thug Passion Presents: Belly, the 1998 crime / drama film directed by Hype Williams and starred DMX and Nas. As these two have shown a healthy ability to make people laugh — Thug Passion Presents: Belly looks like it’ll be a great way to start off the new year. For those interested, the show starts at 8:00 p.m. EST at Union Hall (702 Union St., Brooklyn, NY 11222) and will cost $10 day of show.
Other readers include Sam Jay (SNL writer), Mike Brown (Decepticomics), Chanel Ali (New York Comedy Club), Nore Davis and Chris Daniels (Book of Ye podcast).
We suggest you get the early bird ticket, which costs $8, and sorry kiddies, the show is only for those 21 and over.
