Thor Searches for Himself In New 'Love And Thunder' Teaser

Marvel Studios released a first teaser for Thor: Love And Thunder with appearances from the Guardians of the Galaxy and The Mighty Thor.

Thor is in search of himself. In a first look teaser for Thor: Love And Thunder, the Marvel superhero sets off to "choose his own path," proclaiming that his "superheroing days are over."

Against a backdrop of "Sweet Child 'O Mine" by Guns N' Roses, the film's protagonist (Chris Hemsworth) goes on a superhero hiatus while Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) takes charge of the new Asgard. The trailer also reintroduces Natalie Portman as Jane Foster wielding the Mjolnir hammer, her return to the Marvel franchise since Thor: The Dark World in 2013.

“These hands were once used for battle, now they’re but humble tools for peace,” Hemsworth says in the teaser. “Now I need to figure out exactly who I am.”

The film will premiere shortly after Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness, which releases May 6th. Here's the official synopsis for Love And Thunder, per Marvel.

"The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace," the official description reads. "But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

"To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late."

Thor: Love And Thunder premieres on July 8th.
