The LeBron James-produced House Party reboot will premiere in theaters instead of HBO Max due to Warner Bros. Discovery restructure.

House Party isn't over. One month after being shelved on HBO Max, the Calmatic-directed Kid 'n Play remake will be released to theaters instead of the streamer due to Warner Bros. Discovery restructuring. Produced by LeBron James and his longtime business partner Maverick Carter, the film stars Jacob Latimore, Tosin Cole, DC Young Fly, Melvin Gregg, Rotimi and Bill Bellamy. Atlanta co-writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori also wrote the script.

Here's the official synopsis:

When a pair of down-on-their-luck house cleaners discover they're assigned to clean the mansion of LeBron James while he's overseas, they decide to make a life-changing decision to throw a giant party in a quest for immortality and some cash. As the party gets out of control and one of LeBron's championship rings goes missing, they will be launched into a wild night that they will never forget.

“It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

Also affected by the Warner Bros. Discovery shift is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which will premiere on December 25, 2023, months past its original release date of March 17, 2023. Competing with Avatar: The Way of Water is Shazam!: Fury of the Gods bumped from its original June 2, 2023 release date to December 16, 2022. Originally given a July 29, 2022 release date, Black Adam will instead debut on October 21, 2022.

House Party arrives to theaters on December 9.
