Things Get Really Dark in the Latest Trailer for ‘The Batman’

The Batman will hit theaters in March 2022/

Warner Bros. has just released the first extended trailer for The Batman, the next reincarnation of the legendary comic book character.

The trailer made its premiere at the DC FanDome event, alongside looks at The Flash movie and Black Adam. In the trailer we get a glimpse of what director Matt Reeves has envisioned for Batman, who will be played by Robert Pattison. In the trailer we see what appears to be a more ruthless and chilling version of Batman.

We also get some glimpse of the foes Batman will be facing. We see Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman) and Colin Farrell, who will be playing the Penguin. (Even though, it seems like his appearance will be relatively short.)

We also get glimpses of the main villain The Riddler, who will be played by Paul Dano. Reports say that this Riddler will be a serial killer.

More and more details are being leaked on social media. There are reports that the runtime is nearly three hours long and that the movie is full on crime noir. It also won’t be an origin story. During a panel last year Reeves said that The Batman drops viewers somewhere in the middle of Bruce Wayne’s transformation. “I think for me, what was exciting, is not doing that, not doing the origin, but instead, to meet him in the middle of this criminological experiment, to see him fail and grow and be heroic but in a way that felt very human, very flawed,” Reeves said during the panel.

The Batman will be released in theaters on March 4th. Check out the latest trailer below.
