A Tekashi 6ix9ine Documentary Series Is In The Works

A Tekashi 6ix9ine documentary series chronicling the rapper's rise and fall is in the works at Showtime.
In a report from Deadline, Showtime is developing a docuseries on 6ix9ine titled Supervillain. The series is inspired by journalist Stephen Witt's Rolling Stone feature "Tekashi 6ix9ine: The Rise and Fall of a Hip Hop Supervillain."
The three-part series will explore Daniel Hernandez's transformation into the controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine and everything that came with it — from the success to his testimony against his former crew, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, in federal court in Manhattan.
"The bizarre and complicated rise of Tekashi 6ix9ine is a story of our times," Vinnie Malhotra, EVP, Nonfiction Programming, Showtime Networks, said. "Beyond becoming one of the most notorious hip hop artists of this generation, his story speaks volumes of the impact of social media and manufactured celebrity in our society. We're excited to be partnering with such heavy hitters in the world of music and documentary to bring Supervillain to life."

6ix9ine is currently in prison on federal racketeering and weapons charges and is awaiting release as early as the end of this year.
Recently, Jamel "Mel Murda" Jonesreceived a sentence of 135 months in prison and five years of probation in regards to 6ix9ine's case.
