Tupac made a posthumous appearance in a teaser for an upcoming Supreme drop.
This morning, the streetwear giant unveiled a clip of the rapper’s hologram sporting a pair of the company’s staple boxer briefs with the box logo flashing just above his waistline. It remains unclear what role the late rapper (or his computer-generated likeness) will play in the collection, but the brand has a knack for repurposing images of musicians and various cultural icons (see: MLK, Marvin Gaye, Akira, dead prez, Public Enemy, and so on.) Suppose we’ll have to wait and see.
The hologram, however, is a strange choice for the reveal. Unveiled at Coachella in 2012, it performed alongside Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre in one of the festival’s most puzzling headliner sets to date. So strange and out-of-pocket, in fact, the firm responsible for the design filed for bankruptcy just months after its debut. But it appears at least the hologram will live on.
See Tupac’s hologram don the box logo in Supreme’s new teaser below. Hold tight for the drop. Should be any day now.
