The This Is Us star, Sterling K. Brown, made history as he became the first black actor to win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.

The cast of NBC’s breakout hit, This Is Us, won big during last night’s Screen Actors Guild Awards. The show won for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, scoring the first major network in the category since ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy nabbed the award in 2006.

Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall Pearson on This Is Us, made history by becoming the first black actor to win the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series Award. Other winners included The Handmaid’s Tale, which was still riding the wave from the Golden Globes earlier this month.

For those who don’t know or haven’t seen This Is Us, the show follows one family’s multi-generational story and includes storylines about body acceptance, transracial adoption and grief. This Is Us debuted in 2016 and became known for its emotional storylines. It has maintained that buzz heading into its sophomore season and become a must-see program to watch on television.

Frequently coming in at the top no. 1 spot in its Tuesday night time slot, This Is Us routinely draws in almost 10 million viewers, according to overnight Nielsen ratings. While This Is Us won big, they weren’t the only one to take home the night’s big prize. You can check out the full list of SAG Award winners below.
