Superproducers Mannie Fresh and Scott Storch went head-to-head on Instagram Live Wednesday night. The two shared 20 of their best tracks, letting over 150,000 viewers decide the victor.
According to social media, Storch won convincingly. The former Roots member dropped pop hits like Chris Brown’s “Gimme Dat,” Beyonce’s “Baby Boy,” and Eve’s “Let Me Blow Your Mind” to get things started.
Mannie opened his set with a string of classics: Lil Wayne’s “Go DJ,” Juvenile’s “Ha,” and Cash Money Millionaires “Project Chick.” The two both reached into their extensive crates for deep cuts. The second song Scott played was “The Watcher 2” from Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 2.
Mannie dropped two deep cuts from Juvenile’s 400 Degreez, while Storch dropped Jadakiss and Mariah Carey’s “You Make Me Wanna.” Storch played Top 40 hits from Mary J. Blige and Justin Timberlake, while Mannie dropped bangers with T.I. and Young Jeezy. According to social media users, Storch’s versatility won out.
“Not even close,” frequent Storch collaborator Fat Joe said via Instagram. “I have it 18-2 congrats Scott.”
Swizz Beatz, who organized the battle with help from Timbaland, thanked both producers for participating. “Two icons went head to head in a Epic battle,” he wrote. “Thank you for doing it for the people. 203k in attendance let’s keep it going.”
