The Houston rap legend announced his campaign on Saturday.

Geto Boys member Scarface has announced his run for Houston city council.

Scarface, whose real name is Brad Jordan, first teased the announcement last week, taking to Instagram to share a post with the following question: "Should I run for Houston city council?" The question received favorable responses from Slim Thug, 2 Chainz, Big Boi, Meek Mill, Kid Capri, and fellow Geto Boys member Willie D.

Jordan then followed the post up with an official annoucement.

"It's official. I'm offering myself for service as the next Houston City Councilmember for District D. Join our movement! More details to come," the rapper wrote in the post's caption. Along with sharing the website for his campaign, he also shared his campaign slogan: "Of the people, for the people."

Jordan's official announcement received praise from Bun B, MC Lyte, and De La Soul's Posdnuos.

The announcement came a day before the death of Geto Boys member Bushwick Bill, who passed away at the age of 52 from pancreatic cancer.
