Sasha Baron Cohen – or in this case, Borat – had a few words for Ye and former US President Donald Trump during the 2022 Kennedy Center Honors. During the event on Sunday night (December 4), the English actor and comic took aim at the artist formerly known as Kanye West and his antisemitic comments made on social media and public platforms.
“Before I proceed, I will say I am very upset about the antisemitism in US and A. It not fair. Kazakhstan is No. 1 Jew-crushing nation. Stop stealing our hobby. Stop the steal. Stop the steal,” Cohen joked.
Cohen’s appearance at the Kennedy Center came one month after Ye met with Trump at Florida’s Mar-a-Lago and asked the former president to be his 2024 presidential running mate. Weeks later, Ye appeared on Infowars, hosted by Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, where the Donda 2 artist repeatedly praised Adolf Hitler.
“Your Kanye, he tried to move to Kazakhstan and even changed his name to Kazakhstanye West. But we said, ‘No, he too antisemitic, even for us,’” Cohen’s continued during his comedy segment.
Cohen’s Borat character then parodied U2’s 1987 song “With or Without You,” changing the lyrics to “With or without Jews.”
“What’s the problem? They loved this at Mar-a-Lago. They chose Without Jews,” Cohen joked, referencing the crowd’s mixed response.
In light of Ye’s recent antisemitic tirades, conservative social media app Parler announced that the artist would no longer be acquiring the platform.
