Drag icon RuPaul will star as a “bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck” drag queen who travels around the country with her 11-year-old sidekick AJ.

RuPaul is bringing her television success to Netflix as she will star in a brand new comedy series titled AJ and the Queen. The series, which is still in development, finds the drag icon teaming up with former Sex and the City showrunner Michael Patrick King, according to Deadline.

With 10 episodes already ordered for Netflix, this marks a second entry for the Emmy Award-winning creative as her other show, RuPaul’s Drag Race, is already streaming on the binge-watching platform.

AJ and the Queen finds RuPaul playing Ruby Red, a “bigger-than-life but down-on-her-luck” drag queen who travels across America with her 11-year-old sidekick AJ in a beat up R/V. In this road trip comedy, Ruby changes people’s lives along the way and offers up a live musical performance in the drag clubs she visits in each new city.

RuPaul will also write the hour-long episodes.

There’s no word on a release date just yet, but expect this one to be on countless people’s watch queues when it does.
