Run The Jewel’s El-P Shared A ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Demo Snippet On Instagram

The wildly popular rapper-producer, El-P, shared a clip of his “rejected” score for the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 film, which stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford.

Late Friday night, Sept. 22, hip-hop Instagram was lit on fire with a shared snippet of a demo cut produced by El-P for the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 trailer. “Here is a snippet of my rejected (or ignored) Blade Runner 2049 trailer score,” he wrote in the caption of his Instagram post, which you can see below. “Honestly, even being asked to demo it up was an honor. All synths done on the Yamaha CS80, which as you may known is the same synth Vangelis used for the original.”

While the Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford-starring sci-fi adventure is slated for an Oct. 6 release date — the upcoming sequel was supposed to feature a score by Jóhann Jóhannsson, but he was reported removed from the project. Flying Lotus has already offered a peek at a new score for the Blade Runner 2022 animated short film, which is directed by Cowboy Bebop’s Shinichiro Watanabe.

At the top of this year, Harrison Ford revealed why he decided to come back for the Blade Runner sequel. “The character [Rick Deckard] is woven into the story in a way that intrigued me. There’s a very strong emotional context. The relationship between the character Deckard — that I play — and other characters is fascinating. I think it is interesting to develop a character after a period of time — to revisit a character.”

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on Oct. 6 and also stars Jared Leto, Dave Bautista and Robin Wright
