Despite losing deals with Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga and more, Ye is still a top-earning hip-hop artist. According to the Zogblog by former Forbes senior editor Zack O’Malley Greenburg, the Donda 2 artist ranks at No. 3 on the list of hip-hop’s wealthiest artists, with a current net worth of $500 million. In 2021, Ye’s net worth was $250 million, just half of his current wealth, and the rapper was previously ranked at No. 2 on the list behind his former collaborator JAY-Z.
Now, Ye’s previous spot has been replaced by Diddy’s net worth of $1 billion at No. 2, with Hov still holding the top spot with $1.5 billion. To estimate Ye’s wealth Greenburg “modeled what Yeezy’s value might look like, based on discounted cash flows in the event of a return to glory five years from now, assigning a probability of 10% for this scenario.” The former Forbes editor also mentioned that despite Yeezy experiencing a downturn after severed partnerships with the aforementioned brands, he could “revive Yeezy with a right-wing sporting goods company or an overseas brand with less to lose than Adidas.”
Also on the list or richest rappers, are Bay Area businessman Berner at No. 4 with a wealth of $410 million, credited to his Cookies cannabis empire, which boasts 2,000 different marijuana products across 48 stores in the United States. Last is Dr. Dre at No. 5, the former self-proclaimed “first billionaire in hip-hop,” who now has a $400 million net worth after his costly 2021 divorce from ex-wife Nicole Young.
