Reginald Hudlin’s ‘Black Panther’ Animated Series Will Re-Air On BET’s Facebook Page
Marvel’s Black Panther will gross a billie this time next week, so it’s only right BET makes its own Black Panther series available again.
True comic book stans know about the time when Reginald Hudlin took over the Black Panther series in the mid-2000s. It was where his sister, Shuri, was first created and it gave us an extreme look at the richness of Wakanda in a uniquely illustrated style. Fast forward to 2010, when Hudlin was a part of BET and he and the company decided to take his effort and turn it into a limited series.
It was really good then, starring Djimon Hounsou as T’Challa, Kerry Washington as Princess Shuri, Jill Scott as Storm and Phil Morris as W’Kabi. BET’s Black Panther series did a great job of incorporating other Marvel characters and alum (see: Stan Lee as General Wallace) such as Klaw, Everett K. Ross, Cyclops and Captain America into the six-episode series’ run.
With the plot similar in ways to its cinematic counterpart, T’Challa, after the death of his father, T’Chaka, must deal with jealousy in the Wakanda royal court as he attempts to find the person who murdered his father. Meanwhile, Klaw (who was the person behind T’Challa’s father’s death) puts together a group of villains to assist him in taking over Wakanda.
BET is currently uploading the Black Panther episodes throughout today, but you should be able to see a few (including the one below) on BET’s Facebook page.
