Protestors for Breonna Taylor Confront Kentucky Senator at White House

The protesters demanded Rand Paul acknowledge the shooting of Breonna Taylor.

Thursday night marked the Republican National Convention in Washington, D.C. The event went on as planned, though the aftermath was another story. Cameras captured the scene as dozens of protesters surrounded Rand Paul, calling for the Kentucky Senator to acknowledge the shooting of 26-year-old Louisville woman Breonna Taylor.

Chants of "No Justice, No Peace" and "Say Her Name" can be heard in the videos, as the crowds move towards Paul. One protester even pushes an officer and his bicycle into Paul's shoulder. On Friday, Paul told Fox & Friendshe believes he would've been killed without a police escort.

"I believe there are going to be people who are involved with the attack on us that actually were paid to come here," he said. "Not from Washington, D.C., and are sort of paid anarchists. This is disturbing because really, if you're inciting a riot that's a crime, but if you're paying someone to incite a riot that person needs to go to jail as well."

This isn't the first time Rand Paul has had a brush with violent civilians. In January 2018, Paul's neighbor Rene Boucher was charged with assaulting a member of Congress after a fight on Boucher's property. Prosecutors said Boucher had "had enough" of Paul stacking brush near his property. Paul suffered five rib fractures, three displaced fractures, and also required medical attention for pneumonia.
