Philly Police President John McNesby Calls Black Lives Matter A “Pack Of Rabid Animals”
The president of Philadelphia’s Fraternal Order of Police, John McNesby, made the statement about Black Lives Matter activist during a police-centered rally.
It never ceases to amaze us how hypocritical people are nowadays. Given the history about the police in this country, is there anyone else who’d fit the profile of “rabid animals” than the “law and order” contingent? Suffice it to say, the memo wasn’t handed to Pennsylvania police union president John McNesby. Speaking at a rally held by and in support of the police, McNesby responded to local Black Lives Matter activists demands for accountabiliy by calling the group a “pack of rabid animals.”
The “Back the Blue” rally was in response to a protest the week before that Black Lives Matter held after police killed another unarmed black man, David Jones, in June. Officer Ryan Pownall, a 12-year veteran, shot Jones in the back as he fled from a traffic stop. Police said he was armed, but this marks the second time Pownall has shot a black man in the back as he was fleeing. In 2010, he shot Carnell Williams-Carney, who ran from cops while having an illegal gun on him.
During Thursday’s police rally, McNesby called Black Lives Matter protesters “racist hate groups determined to instigate violence,” which is an astronomically asinine claim to make. “When you got to work each day, you shouldn’t have to worry that a pack of rabid animals will suddenly show up at your home and openly threaten your family,” McNesby said inside FOP headquarters. “These are not activists, they are racist hate groups determined to instigate violence.”
Asa Khalif, an activist with the city’s Black Lives Matter chapter, told NBC Philadelphia that he and other members were only exercising their First Amendment right. “We will not let words stop us,” Khalif said. “The only words we’re using is justice for David Jones, and we will not be sidetracked by the bullying tactics of the FOP.” McNesby is highly questionable, as the two shootings paint a pattern, while his support for an officer who appeared to have a Nazi tattoo adds to a racist motivation against black people.
Coupled with that recent video of an officer telling a white women, “We only kill black people,” and it seems that the blue wall or blue veil is coming down fast, and those who benefit from being behind it are worried / frustrated about their futures.
