Titled "100 Years – The Song We'll Only Hear If We Care," the track, which was recorded on a clay disc, was played for an intimate group of 100 people during a one-time-only private listening party, according to a report from Ad Age. The record was then stored in a state-of-the-art safe that can only be destroyed if submerged in water, with plans to release the song in full in 2117.

"I love the fact that Louis XIII thinks a century ahead," Pharrell said in a statement. "We should all do the same for the planet. We have a common interest in preserving nature for the future. Each bottle is the life achievement of generations of men and women. It's all about legacy and transmission."

However, the only way the song in its entirety will be heard is if rising sea levels as a result of global warming does not lead to its destruction first. Scientists have projected that in 100 years a significant portion of the world's land will be under water. If this happens the clay record will meet an unfortunate fate and dissolve under water, meaning that no one will get the chance to ever hear it.

Pharrell recently signed on to serve as Chief Creative Officer for innovative musical instruments startup ROLI, where he will "develop revolutionary new musical instruments that are iconic, digitally connected, and accessible to all." The partnership will be long-term, with Williams investing in the company and as well as serving as a co-owner.

"Music touches all of us, and for a long time I’ve been passionate about finding ways to share the power of music with more people," Williams previously said about the new role. "When I met Roland and ROLI, I immediately felt we were working towards exactly the same goals, and so I'm super excited that we’re kicking off this partnership."
