Original 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World' Stars Cast for Netflix Anime Readaptation

The entire main cast from 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World has been cast to voice the Netflix anime series readaptation.

2010's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is getting an anime-style update. On Thursday (March 30), Netflix announced that an anime series based on the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel and hit movie has been ordered to the streamer. Stars from the Universal Pictures film have also been tapped as voice actors for the forthcoming series, including Michael Cera as the titular character, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Kieran Culkin (Wallace Wells), Chris Evans (Lucas Lee), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim), Ellen Wong (Knives Chau), and more.

Bryan Lee O’Malley, who created the graphic novel series, will co-write and executive produce the show along with BenDavid Grabinski. Edgar Wright, who directed and co-wrote the 2010 film, also reassembled the cast as voice actors, tweeting a teaser to the anime series on Thursday.

“One of the proudest and most enjoyable achievements of my career was assembling and working with the dynamite cast of ‘Scott Pilgrim,'” Wright said, per Variety. “Since the film’s release in 2010, we’ve done Q&A's, remembrances, and charity read-throughs, but there was never the occasion to reunite the whole gang on an actual project. Until now… Original creator Bryan Lee O’Malley, along with writer BenDavid Grabinski have conjured up an anime series of ‘Scott Pilgrim’ that doesn’t just expand the universe, but also…well, just watch it. I’m more than happy to announce that I have helped coax the entire original cast back to voice their characters on this epic new adventure. You are in for a treat.”

The six graphic novels follow Pilgrim, a bassist in Toronto who falls in love with Flowers, but must defeat her seven evil exes before the two can date.
