Warner Bros’ hood classic New Jack City will be the latest film to be rebooted, according to Deadline.
Nearly 30 years after it hit theaters in 1991, the movie’s original producer Doug McHenry will work with Snowfall actor-filmmaker Malcolm M. Mays and Bill Gerber — known for producing A Star is Born and Gran Torino.
Mays has recently worked on Warner Bros’ Ferguson and Overbrook Entertainment’s Flint. The former is an adaption of Tell the Truth & Shame the Devil: The Life, Legacy, and Love of My Son Michael Brown, written by Lezley McSpadden and Lyah Beth LeFlore.
No director has been announced as of yet.
