‘The Daily Show’ Might See A Rotation of Hosts After Trevor Noah Leaves

Comedy Central is considering a rotation of hosts to fill Trevor Noah’s seat after he leaves The Daily Show on December 8.

The Daily Show might be seeing more than one host next year. According to Variety, Comedy Central is considering a rotation of hosts after current host Trevor Noah departs the talk show on December 8. The show will return on January 17 for a “reinvention” and presumably, an announcement of new hosts. While the comedy network has not announced potential successors, Noah’s trusted correspondents are humorists Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan and Roy Wood Jr.

Wood has been a correspondent since 2015. In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the comic admitted that he wouldn’t decline a hosting offer for The Daily Show.

“I think if you’re asked, you have to at least consider it,” he said. “You can’t say no to an opportunity like that. You can’t turn your nose up at it at least. I think you have to sit and assess what you want to do creatively, and that’s something I haven’t thought about yet.”

In September, Noah announced that he’d be leaving The Daily Show, which was preceded by former host Jon Stewart.

“It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s something that I never expected,” Noah said in a “special message” video. “I found myself thinking throughout the time of everything we’ve gone through. The Trump presidency, the pandemic, just the journey, more pandemic and I realize that after the seven years, my time is up.”

He continued, “But in the most in the most beautiful way. Honestly. I’ve loved hosting the show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges. It’s been one of my greatest joys. I have loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh, even when the stories are particularly s***** on the worst days. You know, we’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together. But, after seven years, I feel like it’s time.”
