The Beat with Ari Melber continues to be a place for political commentary and accurate rap lyric references.

If you're familiar with MSNBC's Ari Melber, chances are you know of his knack for using rap lyrics to help explain what's going on with the Trump administration, as well as other timely news stories.

However, during a recent episode of The Beat it wasn't Melber but veteran sportswriter Mike Lupica who made a reference to MF DOOM while speaking on Michael Flynn, Donald Trump's former National Security advisor who is cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference of the 2016 election.

"I was just going to tell you that I know what you were thinking about Michael Flynn today," Lupica begins before saying "It was the old MF DOOM line: 'Snitches tellin' all their business/Sittin' in court and bein' their own star witness." The song Lupica is referencing is none other than DOOM's "Rapp Snitch Knishes," from his 2004 album Mm..Food.

The exchange results in laughter from Melber, who's probably just as surprised as almost anyone else who has seen this clip and never would've imagined a DOOM lyric would be referenced on MSNBC.

In recent DOOM news, the rapper recently celebrated the 14th anniversary of Mm..Food with an animated music video for the track "One Beer."

The video, which is directed by Distortedd (Anhia Zaira Santana) features DOOM as a tiny cyclops fighting for the last can of beer against a cyclops Quasimoto (a reference to DOOM collaborator Madlib). Overall, the video is an animated trip to say the least.
