Mahershala Ali, Brian Tyree Henry Join Animated Spider-Man Movie
Mahershala Ali and Brian Tyree Henry have joined the cast of the forthcoming animated Spider-Man film.
The Oscar award-winning Ali and Atlanta‘s Henry will both be playing members of Miles Morales’ family, as Aaron Davis and Jefferson Davis, respectively. Aaron is Morales’ uncle who cares for his nephew but leads a double life as the cat burglar Prowler (Prowler will be one of two protagonists in the animated movie, with actor Liev Schreiber landing the role of Morales’ other enemy although it is unknown who that villain is), while Jefferson is Morales’ detective father.
Although this is Henry’s first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this is not Ali’s first, with the latter serving as antagonist Cottonmouth in the live-action Luke Cage series. Playing Morales will be Dope‘s Shameik Moore.
The still untitled animated Spider-Man moive drops on December 14, 2018, and has no ties to the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie dropping next month. The former will tell the story of Morales as he takes on the role of Spider-Man following original Spidey Peter Parker’s death.
