Kirk Franklin, Salt-N-Pepa, Lil Baby Highlight New 'Space Jam' Soundtrack

The Space Jam: A New Legacy soundtrack features new and old favorites.

On Wednesday, Republic Records and Warner Bros. announced the soundtrack for Space Jam: A New Legacy, the sequel to the 1996 comedy starring LeBron James. The new edition's soundtrack includes appearances from Kirk Franklin, Big Freedia, Lil Baby, Chance the Rapper, and more. Take a look at the tracklist and watch the announcement video below.

Kirk Franklin and Lil Baby's "We Win" opens the album, while Lil Wayne teams up with newcomer 24kGoldn for "Control the World" to follow. In an homage to the original soundtrack's "Upside Down (Round-N-Round)," Salt-N-Pepa returns, this time joining Saweetie and Kash Doll for "Hoops."

"We were really conscious about wanting to bring all kinds of artists together, because that’s the world today,” Dana Sano, Executive Vice President of Film & Television at Republic Records, told Rolling Stone. “So if you’re looking at streaming culture, you’re getting music globally. The reach and the thought behind this was to have a spectrum of music and artists.”

Big Freedia expressed gratitude for the chance to represent for LGBTQ artists. “To represent for the LGBTQ community and to have my voice on it is definitely letting people know that they’re opening things up to all walks of life,” Freedia said. “I’m really honored to be a part of it and to represent my community.”

Space Jam: A New Legacy hits theaters and HBO Max on July 16th.
