Watch Killer Mike Discuss Black Gun Ownership And The NRA With MSNBC's Joy Reid

After engaging in a social media feud recently, Killer Mike and Joy Reid spoke with each other on MSNBC's AM Joy. The Atlanta rapper discussed black gun ownership, the need for better policing, and alternative organizations to support instead of the NRA with the MSNBC correspondent.

"I'm sorry that an organization like the NRA has sunk to levels of all of us," Mike said. "All of us have become very petty. What I did was petty. It could be argued what other people from the left and right did was petty."

The rapper also apologized to Reid once again in regards to calling her out on an Instagram post on her account he presumed was endorsing H&M. The two ended their conversation by talking about the two black men who were recently arrested in a Starbucks while waiting for a friend.

The conversation not only stems from Killer Mike and Reid's social media feud, but a controversial interview the rapper did with NRA TV a few weeks ago. During the chat, the rapper spoke on his support of gun ownership and discouraging his children from participating in the mass school walkouts protesting gun violence.

"I told my kids on the school walkout: 'I love you—if you walk out that school, walk out my house…' We are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does, because some stuff we just don’t agree with," the activist said.

Killer Mike faced backlash following the interview's release. The rapper apologized and said that the clip was "used in the wrong way." He also clarified that he supported the March For Our Lives, and that he wanted to have a dialogue specifically about the importance of gun ownership within the black community.
