Kate Bush Responds to "Running Up That Hill" Blowing Up After 'Stranger Things' Feature

After Kate Bush song "Running Up That Hill" was used in season four of Stranger Things, the English singer gave the series her gratitude.

1985 Kate Bush song "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) is getting a new boost in popularity thanks to Stranger Things. The new wave classic was featured in season four of the Netflix series, nearly four decades after peaking on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 30 in November 1985. The song originally appeared on Bush's 1985 album Hounds of Love.

According to Variety, "Running Up That Hill" has recently surged on various music streaming platforms including Spotify where last Monday (May 30), the song received a 8,700% increase in global streams. The video also became re-popularized, seeing a nearly 15,000% rise from the previous week on YouTube.

In response, Kate Bush has posted on her website about the song getting "a whole new lease of life" due to Stranger Things.

"You might've heard that the first part of the fantastic, gripping new series of 'Stranger Things' has recently been released on Netflix," Bush wrote.

"It features the song, 'Running Up That Hill' which is being given a whole new lease of life by the young fans who love the show - I love it too!," she wrote. "Because of this, 'Running Up That Hill' is charting around the world and has entered the UK chart at No. 8. It's all really exciting!"
Admittedly a fan of the series, Bush added, "I wait with bated breath for the rest of the series in July."
