Kanye West Will Not Have Homeless People Model for Yeezy Gap

It was rumored that Kanye West sought homeless people to model his upcoming Yeezy Gap launch. A representative for the brand says it’s false.

Kanye West will not be exploiting the homeless. TMZ reported on Thursday that Ye was collaborating with streetwear brand Skid Row Fashion Week to create a Yeezy x Skid Row Fashion Week clothing exclusive. Label founder David Sabastian said it’s mission was to aid the homeless by donating a portion of all sales to those living on Skid Row. The Skid Row Fashion Week factory also employs homeless people.

“The program is designed to be a catalyst for men and women living on the streets to take control of their future in a fulfilling way through gainful employment,” says their brand statement.

With the collaboration allegedly launching on February 22nd, Sabastian stated that he wanted select SRFW factory workers to be models for an upcoming fashion show. In a new report on Complex, a rep for Yeezy Gap has denied such collaboration and that Ye isn’t seeking homeless models.

“Ye has a deep and solution-oriented commitment to addressing issues surrounding homelessness but this reported event is not on our schedule at this time nor are we aware of any product collaboration in development,” the rep said.

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Ye’s ongoing Yeezy Gap rollout, including a cross-collaboration with Balenciaga. Earlier this month, the rapper was seen filming a visual with Cardi B in a Miami Balenciaga store, likely promo for Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga.

Rest assured that Ye stans can also anticipate his next album DONDA 2, which he says will be dropping on February 22nd with Future as executive producer.
