Kanye West Calls the Music Industry, NBA "Modern Day Slave Ships"

Kanye West reached out to French media conglomerates to discuss...something.

Kanye West launched another tweet storm on Monday night. This time around, the G.O.O.D. Music boss urged his fellow MCs to end all their conflicts, due to predatory record deals. In line with his newfound faith, he pleaded for peace and for his peers to link and respect each other.

The messages came after Kanye said he wanted apologies from Drake and J. Cole in now-deleted tweets.

"We need world healing," he wrote. "I refuse to argue with black men on labels we don't own...even twitter."

Kanye also made vague statements about his relationship with Steve Stoute, posting an image of a headline that showed Stoute saying "I don't want anybody Black running around voting for Kanye West."

"Steve Stoute is a good man," Kanye wrote. "This is my brother. I'm disappointed with a lot of his recent decisions but Steve is my brother. I understand bro, and I'm here for life."

Kanye then turned his sights on the music industry, particularly Universal Music Group and Sony. "I need to see everybody's contracts at Universal and Sony," he continued. "I'm not gonna watch my people be enslaved. I'm putting my life on the line for my people. The music industry and the NBA are modern day slave ships. I'm the new Moses."

Kanye then posted screenshots from a iMessage conversation with an adviser where he seems to be attempting to gain control of his masters and publishing. The adviser proposes multiple options to handle this, including re-recording the songs and proposing a joint venture with Universal. The "nuclear option," according to them, would be to file a lawsuit and attempt to ask for ownership of the masters in a settlement.

An hour later, representatives of the French media company Vivendi reached out due to the tweets.

"Hey everyone we’re making progress," Kanye said. "I’ll keep everyone updated on how this meeting with Vivendi goes... If Nikola Tesla had a Twitter the world would run off AC ... Edison killed Tesla’s image to control the power LITERALLY... Tesla and I only mean well for the world."

Last January, Kanye filed two separate lawsuits against EMI, the mother company of both labels in an attempt to gain control of his publishing and masters. The two parties settled out of court on two separate occasions.
