John Boyega Hints At A Possible Future Role In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
John Boyega took the stage at Awesome Con where he addressed the rumor of him joining the MCU to take over the role of Blade, originally played by Wesley Snipes.
Last night, Awesome Con went off without a hitch in Washington, D.C. with John Boyega answering a wide range of questions about his recent filmography. During the chat, he spoke on his time with Attack the Block, Pacific Rim Uprising and, of course, Star Wars.
But the biggest and most hypest moment came when a fan asked if there was any truth to the rumor that Boyega would be joining Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, taking over the role of Blade. Fans have been pushing the word ever since it hit the streets, even graphic artist Boss Logic showed off his talents by imagining Boyega as the Daywalking Vampire Slayer.
Boyega didn’t hold back in sharing his thoughts about the possibility of joining the MCU, saying, “It would spit in the face of Wesley [Snipes] if I took Blade.” But he followed that with that he was “all for Wesley [Snipes] playing Blade.” Although he is not counting out the chance of joining Marvel, he did say that that would probably happen “way down the line”. In any regards, fan demand could rush this despite Boyega’s claims, as Black Panther 2 is already in the works and we’ve suggested a few sequel roles and ideas that Boyega could fit nicely for.
