During a recent appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher, Killer Mike discussed Jay-Z‘s NFL deal. Last Tuesday, it was announced that the rapper and entrepreneur’s Roc Nation and the NFL entered in a partnership together. Roc Nation will reportedly help the league in the social-justice arena, as well as produce Super Bowl events.

The partnership has been divisive, with some people believing the deal undermines Colin Kaepernick‘s social justice efforts during his time in the NFL. Some have supported it, including rappers like Freddie Gibbs and, now, Killer Mike.
“Jay-Z has been a capitalist his entire career and is a celebrated one because he was one of us that made it out the streets, made it in the rooms, and he did what he could when he should,” Mike said while also referencing the time Jay boycotted the Grammy’s.
“Jay-Z’s play, I believe, not only gives us a seat at the table,” he continued. “It doesn’t destroy what Kap knelt for.”
Elsewhere in their interview, Mike said he believes if Jay becomes a team owner, Kap will get a tryout.
Recently, it was reported that Jay would also become a part-owner of an NFL team. However, the 4:44 artist is not an NFL agent and does not take part in the operations of the NFL players in Roc Nation.
