Jada Pinkett Smith Is Reportedly Offended By Chris Rock's Netflix Special

A source connected to Jada Pinkett Smith told People that the actress had no involvement in Will Smith and Chris Rock's 2022 incident.

Jada Pinkett Smith appears to be breaking her silence on Chris Rock's recent Netflix stand-up special. On Monday (March 6), a source in the actress' camp spoke to People about the controversial Selective Outrage, where Rock aimed a few punches towards The Smiths at Baltimore's Hippodrome Theater.

“Jada has had no part in all of this other than being heckled,” the source told People. “Chris is obsessed with her and that’s been going on for almost 30 years. Look where he chose to film his Netflix special. Her hometown [of Baltimore]. Obsessed."

The source added. “Back in 2016 she helped start a movement with the Academy Awards by questioning why there are so few Black members, and Chris took it to this?”

In 2016, Pinkett Smith protested the Academy Awards as part of the #OscarsSoWhite movement when Smith was snubbed from the Best Actor category. The actor would win in the category six years later for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard.

The source also told People that they "were shocked at how many times Chris used the word b**** in referring to Jada."

In his special, Rock made crude references to The Smiths' open marriage, accusing Pinkett Smith of "cheating" on the Emancipation actor.

"I did some jokes about her. Who gives a fuck? That's how it is: She starts it, I finish it," Rock said. "That's what the fuck happened. Nobody's pickin' on this bitch. She started this shit. Nobody was pickin' on her."
