J Dilla's Daughters Are Hosting A Youth Benefit In Detroit This Weekend

This Sunday, February 12th, The Foundation of Women in Hip-Hop will hold a Dilla Youth Day benefit in Detroit. For the 5th annual installment of the benefit, the organization has tapped local legends like Amp FiddlerNick Hook, DJ Los, DJ Linda Carter and more for special presentations coinciding with beat-making workshops, exhibits, interactive experiences and talent showcases. That latter will be hosted by the late producer's daughters.

The benefit is free and takes place at The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. Last year Dilla Youth Day brought over 750 kids of all ages out to take part in the festivities, and is expected to have at least that in attendance this weekend. And though today may mark 11 years since the pioneer's death, he is celebrated with yearly tributes and shoutouts from hip-hop's greatest minds and musicians of all creed. So if you're local or even planning a trip out to the Motown grounds, make sure you stop through with the youngins, and maybe even cap the day off with a trip to Dilla's Delights; a Detroit donut shop opened by the producer's uncle.
