We're Not Getting New Episodes Of 'Atlanta' In Early 2021 Anymore

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, filming for the third and fourth season of Atlanta is delayed until 2021.

The third and fourth seasons for Atlantaare delayed yet again because of the coronavirus pandemic.

In a report from Variety, FX Networks and FX Productions chairman John Landgraf said the show will resume production in early 2021, and then be released later in the year. Per Variety:

The third and fourth seasons of "Atlanta" were written together and will be shot that way as well. (Landgraf did say that "Donald Glover and his intrepid team" were able to finish writing over the last few months.) One season is set and will primarily be shot in Atlanta, Ga., as per usual, but the other takes place in Europe.

Landgraf had previously said that the show was likely to return in January of next year.

"The plan is that one would air I think in January, so early next year," he said. "And then the other would air, I think, later that year, somewhere around the fall. There’ll be less than a year break between them."

In August last year, Atlanta was renewed for a fourth season even before production for its third season had begun.

“What more can be said about Atlanta than the critical acclaim and accolades that Donald, Paul, Dianne, Stephen and Hiro have earned for two exceptional seasons of what is clearly one of the best shows on television,” Eric Schrier, President of FX Entertainment, said at the time. “This group of collaborators and cast have created one of the most original, innovative stories of this generation and we are proud to be their partners.”
