‘Horror Noire’ is a New Black Horror Anthology Series From Shudder & It Looks Incredible

Shudder’s Horror Noire will be released on the platform on October 28th. The series will also premiere on AMC on a later date.

Shudder, a streaming service dedicated to horror films, has released the first trailer for Horror Noire, a new anthology series centered around Black horror

Horror Noire — which will premiere on October 28 on Shudder and then on a later date on AMC  — will feature six new films starring, directed and written by Black talent. The trailer gives a glimpse of what to expect. The six stories are “Daddy,” “Bride Before You,” “Brand of Evil,” “The Lake,” “Sundown” and “Fugue State. The stories will be a mix of adaptations and original stories and will take place in a mix of historical and contemporary settings.

There is a lot of talent involved with this project — in front of the camera and behind. Horror legends Tony Todd (Candyman) and Rachel True (The Craft) will have roles. Luke James, Erica Ash, Brandon Mychal Smith, Sean Patrick Thomas, Malcolm Barrett, and more will also have starring roles.

Horror Noire comes two years after Shudder released the excellent documentary Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. That documentary — which also featured appearances from Todd and True — was executive produced by Tananarive Due, a professor of African American Studies at UCLA. Due and her husband Steven Barnes also wrote for the new anthology.

We’re — not going to lie, this looks awesome. Hopefully, this will be able to stand next to some of the Black horror classics.

Check out the first trailer below.
