The first trailer for Free Meek, a documentary series centered around Meek Mill's own experiences with America's criminal justice system and his rise as a prison reform activist, has been released.

The two-minute trailer highlights Meek's arrest at 19 for illegally possessing a firearm, and the 11 years of probation he received following his arrest.

"This guy got locked up at 19 and been on probation for 11 years," Jay-Z, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, says at one point during the trailer.

In 2017, Meek was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison after he was arrested for popping a wheelie in New York City. The charge was ultimately dismissed but Judge Genece Brinkley still sent the artist to prison in Pennsylvania for other technical probation violations, marking the second time she incarcerated him for probation violations. Meek was released on bail in April 2018.

Free Meek will be debut on Amazon Prime Video as a five-episode limited documentary series August 9.

Last year, Meek released his fourth studio album Championships. The rapper recently called out The Cosmopolitan Casino for "extremely racist" behavior after he was threatened with arrest for trespassing while trying to attend a Mustard performance.
