Frank Ocean is back in Blonded mode. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his landmark debut studio album Channel Orange, on Sunday (July 10) the musician released two new episodes of Blonded Radio on Apple Music. In the first episode titled “blonded Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” Ocean was in conversation with psychologist and writer Dr. James Fadiman, the two discussing the benefits of psychedelics and microdosing.
While the conversation was backed by an instrumental that Ocean produced, he also spoke on recent psychedelic trips, insinuating he had been working on new music in Malibu.
“Forgive how, like, free associative this might feel. … I was working in Malibu this summer and I would go out, like, pretty late from the studio and there’s, like, a big population of coyotes in Malibu,” he said around the 13:11 mark in the episode. “And then when I would go outside I would see, like, all these bunnies running around and it reminded me of video games where you’re, like, a wizard or something. And you’re playing this role in this game and you’re running around and you have these little things to pick up and put in the pouch.”
In the second episode, “blonded ENERGY!” Ocean spoke with Chinese healer and teacher Mingtong Gu, star of upcoming Netflix series How to Change Your Mind. Like “blonded Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” the episode was also soundtracked by a production from Ocean. New merch was added to the musician’s online store on Sunday, including Blonded Radio shirts and posters commemorating the 10-year anniversary of Channel Orange.
On Spotify, the banner for Ocean’s page changed to images of him in 2012.
Ocean is set to headline Coachella next year, and will reportedly be directing an upcoming film for A24.
