In an election full of firsts, it appears we have another on our hands. According to Billboard, heading to Austin as Texas’ newest state senate representative, is Nathan Johnson, a former composer on the English dub of Dragon Ball Z.

Before entering the political sphere, the freshly-elected 50-year-old composed suites for episodes 1-67, as well as five of the anime series’s cinematic offshoots, including The World’s Strongest, Tree of Might, Broly: Second Coming, Fusion Reborn, and Wrath of The Dragon, for which Johnson learned to play the ocarina while composing one of the film’s themes.

Johnson is a University of Arizona graduate (magnum cum laude,) earned his law degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where he volunteered for victims of domestic violence. His campaign advocates for fully-funded public education, equal opportunities for minority citizens, and protecting Dreamers at the frontline of the border control discussion. He won his district with 54% of votes, beating out Republican incumbent, Don Huffines.
