Erykah Badu Wants George Floyd Protesters to "Fall Back...We Are Out Gunned"

Badu's comments have sparked backlash on social media.

In the wake of the death of George Floyd, protests have erupted throughout the country. Celebrities continue to speak out about campaign strategies. Erykah Badu is the latest to chime in. On Sunday, the singer begged protesters to step back.

"They know we are in revolt mode," she tweeted on Sunday evening. "WE ARE OUT GUNNED. FALL BACK for now. Family. THAT IS AN ORDER."

Understandably, Badu's comments didn't go over so well online. Emotions are high, and in multiple cases, prosecutions may never arrive for those responsible. However, she would go on to elaborate her stance as only she can. She even got a couple jokes in at one user's expense.

"U jumping from one wrong conclusion to the next," she replied to one Twitter user. "SOMEBODY CALL SWIZZ BEATS so we can watch This man wrong conclusions verzuz his other wrong conclusions."

"Military [is] just part of a design," she continued. "POWERS THAT BE designed it this way 100+ years ago. It is a flawless plan that has successfully kept us exactly where we are-in a position of servitude & consumerism. They BANK $ on our fear & emotions then pacify us w/placation if u push bk."

When a Twitter user asked if a 25-year-old Erykah Badu would think the same way, she acknowledged her own personal growth.

"Actually," she wrote, "25 year old me would act like I'm bad and talk like I'm bad but inside I'd would be directionless. 25 year old me was more concerned about making a point than creating change. I romanticized activism until faced with real danger."
