Erica Garner In A Coma On Life Support After Suffering From Heart Attack

Erica Garner is being hospitalized and is unable to breathe on her own.

Erica Garner, activist and eldest daughter of slain police brutality victim, Eric Garner fell into a coma Sunday night.

The 27-year-old mother of two is in critical condition and is unable to breathe on her own, family members said.

Esaw Snipes-Garner, Erica Garner’s mother,  told the Daily News her daughter’s cardiac arrest was brought on by an asthma attack on Saturday night.

“[She] is still with us. She’s fighting,” the mom said.

Garner gave birth to her second child in August. After that pregnancy, she suffered her first cardiac arrest, her mom said. The family says she’s not doing well after this heart attack, but they’re keeping hope alive.

Garner, became an activist in 2014 as her father Eric Garner became a symbol within the Black Lives Matter movement following his death by the hands of NYPD after being placed in a chokehold by officer Daniel Pantaleo in Staten Island. After a Staten Island grand jury failed to indict Pantelo, Garner became a vocal critic of Mayor Bill de Blasio for not releasing Pantaleo’s disciplinary record and for allowing the cop to collect money on continued, modified duty.
