Elon Musk's 'SNL' Episode Is Third-Highest Rated Of The Season Behind Dave Chappelle And Chris Rock

Elon Musk's first time hosting Saturday Night Live worked in the show's favor.

Elon Musk's Saturday Night Livehosting on May 8 led to the show having its third-highest ratings of the season.

In a report from Variety, Musk's SNL episode "averaged a 4.8 household rating in Nielsen’s overnight metered markets and a 2.7 rating in adults 18-49." The episode is now in the top three of highest rated episodes for SNL's 46th season, right behind Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock's hosting episodes in November and October last year, respectively. Musk's episode also tied the ratings mark with the October episode of SNL that featured Adele as host.

Prior to Musk's appearance on SNL, Chappelle had addressed the backlash Musk was facing on a recent episode of Joe Rogan's podcast.

"No one is woke enough," Rogan said while talking about the CEO's then-upcoming SNL appearance, before adding that critics of the episode "can’t appreciate the fact that you’re dealing with literally one of the most brilliant men that’s ever lived that’s gonna come do your show."

In response, Chappelle said that he saw the criticism "puzzling" before offering his own take.

"Again like you say, no one can be woke enough," he said. "I’m torn because I like a warrior for a good cause but I’m really into tactics."

"You’re not gonna nag people into behaving in a way that’s – in fact, if you continue with this tone, even if you’re right, you’ll be very hard to hear," he added.
