Doesn’t President Donald Trump Say “Puerto Rico” In Such A Strange Way?
President Donald Trump played around with the pronunciation of Puerto Rico as he saluted Hispanic Heritage Month at the White House on Friday (Oct. 6).
Donald Drumpf, oh, Donald Drumpf, how you continue to sneak these racist, white jokes into the public consciousness of America. Friday, Oct. 6, the Cheeto-in-Chief was hosting a salutation at the White House for Hispanic Heritage Month. There at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Drumpf attempted his variation of “Puerto Rico,” by accentuating the name (not in kind, seemingly) not once, not twice, but three times.
“Pueeeeerrrto Rico,” he told the crowd before saying it without any access later on. The crowd of Hispanic leaders who were gathered in the East Room of the White House laughed at Trump as he said that, while cheering and supporting his comments on a recovering Puerto Rico. For those living in a bomb shelter, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands were smacked around by Hurricane Maria and have since been struggling to get back on its feet.
Drumpf visited Puerto Rico this week with disdain and disses in his mouth, while Vice President Mike Pence toured St. Croix.
Drawing sharp criticism for his initial response (“They want us to do everything for them”) to the toll Maria took on Puerto Rico — critics say that Drumpf was slow to recognize the magnitude of the hurricane’s impact and overstated the effectiveness of federal recovery efforts.
