Donald Glover Offers Updates on New Album and Season Three of 'Atlanta'

The actor resurfaces with a note to fans.

Donald Glover briefly hopped on Twitter last night to bring fans up to speed on some of his upcoming projects.

In a voice note that has since been deleted (hear it below,) Glover put an estimated date of arrival on the highly-anticipated third season of Atlanta. "Atlanta Season 3 comes out probably the beginning of next year," Glover says (with "probably" doing a good share of the heavy lifting.) The actor goes on to address his next music project with even less certainty. "I don't know when the album's coming out," Glover flatly states before admitting he mostly spends his time doing crosswords and listening to Kelis.

And though it's not precise, it is a slightly narrower timeframe for the show's return. Season three of Atlanta was initially slated to premiere at the top of 2021 with a fourth dropping within the year. However, COVID-related delays pushed back the show's production schedule to comply with pandemic protocols. According to FX exec, John Landgraf, both the third and fourth seasons were set to be filmed simultaneously. And a set photo surfaced in early April confirming filming had already begun. So it won't be too long now until Earn, Darius, Paperboy, and Van, are back at it.

Glover's last musical project as Childish Gambino arrived at the onset of the pandemic lockdowns. After surprise-releasing the project for a day on a dedicated site, Glover officially dropped 3.15.20 on March 22nd, 2020. It featured appearances from 21 Savage, Ariana Grande, and Kadhja Bonet, along with production from longtime collaborator Ludwig Goransson and DJ Dahi.
