The history-making creative, Donald Glover, will be on double duty as host and musical guest (as Childish Gambino) on the May 5 episode of SNL.

If you slept through last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live to have enough energy for Beyoncé live #Beychella performance, we totally understand. But you might’ve missed a special announcement from the legendary sketch comedy show, as Saturday Night Live took to its Twitter page to share word that the forthcoming May 5 broadcast will be a Donald Glover / Childish Gambino special.

Yes, you see that correctly, Young Lando will be both host and musical guest, promising that that episode will be a homecoming of epic proportions. For those only familiar with the “Awaken, My Love!” Glover / Gambino combination, the Atlanta superstar got originally established himself as a NBC mainstay, serving as a writer with the network, appearing in episodes of 30 Rock, and starring in his own show Community.

With his show Atlanta continuing to break boundaries (and possibly robbin’ others of some hardware next award season) — Glover is readying the public who might not be aware of his legendary status of just how royal he is. Young Simba (he’s also starring in Disney’s live-action rework of The Lion King) is putting his Golden Globe-status in front of the world as a new member of a rather short list of performers who have served as both host and musical guest. Others include Drake, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift.
