DMX Has A Song With Bono of U2 in the Works

DMX thanks Swizz Beatz for putting the track together.

Over the weekend, N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN released the latest episode of Drink Champs via Revolt TV. Their latest episode features the legendary DMX, who spoke about appearing on Verzuz against Snoop Dogg, his forthcoming currently-unnamed album, and more. Stream the full conversation below.

DMX revealed that his Verzuz partner Snoop Dogg will appear on the album, as well as Usher, Alicia Keys, Lil Wayne and the three core members of Griselda Records. X previously revealed that he’d recorded a posthumous collaboration with Pop Smoke for the project. According to DMX, he’s just two songs away from finishing the album.

One particularly surprising pairing in the works for the album is “Skyscrapers,” a track featuring Bono, the lead singer of U2. DMX called the collaboration “crazy,” complimenting Bono’s vocals on the bridge. “It got like a Miami feel to it,” he said. “I feel like I want to shoot the video here.”

DMX’s longtime producer Swizz Beatz reportedly put the two artists together. Swizz has been “best friends” with Bono for over a decade. In 2010, Bono and Swizz Beatz teamed up for “Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)” with Jay-Z and Rihanna. The song was recorded for the Hope for Haiti Now campaign to raise funds for the damages caused by the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

The new project, DMX’s eighth solo studio album, is his first official album since 2012’s Undisputed. Seven Arts Music dropped an unauthorized collection of tracks called Redemption of the Beast in 2015.

Stay tuned for further updates on the new album.
