"I Don't Play When It Comes to Stuff Like This": DJ Kool Responds to Trump Using "Let Me Clear My Throat" in Attack Ad

"I had absolutely nothing to do with that tweet."

On Monday, Donald Trump tweeted an attack ad at presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden. The full video features former President Barack Obama superimposed onto a Black man at a barbershop.

Towards the end of the ad, DJ Kool's "Let Me Clear My Throat" plays. Shortly afterward, DJ Kool took to Instagram to clear the air.

"To all my followers, please repost the hell outta this," he wrote in the caption. "I had absolutely nothing to do with that Trump tweet this morning, as far as them using my music is concerned I got my [management] team on top of it right now. To all my followers that hit me in support of this issue I love you all, thank you so much and God bless you."

Trump supporters have swarmed the comment section. Some say since the video wasn't an official campaign ad, Trump didn't violate any licensing laws. Some say Kool should be proud of the placement. "I just don't play when it comes to stuff like this," Kool wrote in one response. "As an artist [I] have to be careful as to how my music is used."
