Chinese loyalists claim the image supports Hong Kong's protestors.

DC Comics killed a promotional image for Frank Miller's upcoming The Dark Knight: The Golden Child following an outcry from Chinese loyalists claiming the image supported pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong.

The image, which was initially posted to Instagram but has since been deleted, features Batman hurling a molotov cocktail against the caption "The Future is Young." According to Deadline, the image's disappearance has sparked its own debate over censorship, as DC depends heavily on the Chinese market for sales (Aquaman grossing $292 million alone in China last year.)

Per DC's own description, The Dark Knight: The Golden Child focuses on Johnathan Kent, the son of Superman and Wonder Woman, who is predictably even more powerful than his iconic parents. The first issue is set to hit shelves on December 11th.
