Dave Chappelle Chooses Jazz Over Hip-Hop During Jimmy Fallon Debate Segment

Jimmy Fallon had Dave Chappelle settle everything from guitar solos or drum solos and Chick-fil-A or Popeyes during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show.

Looks like Dave Chappelle is more of a jazz head than he is a hip-hop head. During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Chappelle did a segment called “Dave Chappelle Settles It,” where he was faced with having to choose jazz or hip-hop, guitar solos or drum solos, and other pairings that Fallon sent his way.

Well, in regards jazz or hip-hop, Chappelle surprisingly chose the former.

“Well, that’s just not fair,” the comedian said as Fallon asked him to choose one over the other.

“You have to settle it — jazz or hip-hop?” Fallon responded, to which Chappelle finally offered an answer.

“Jazz, sorry Tariq,” Chappelle replied, while also sending an apology to Roots MC Black Thought, who laughed in response.

Elsewhere during his appearance, Chappelle talked about how his new podcast The Midnight Miracle came to be. The comedian recalled how he and fellow co-hosts Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli were in Ohio when a tornado was happening. The three of them, as well as a group of other people hid in Chappelle’s basement while the tornado was going on.

“We talking — it’s a little stressful — and in the middle of all this stress Mos [Def] goes, ‘We should do a podcast,'” Chappelle said. “And we did it. And doing this podcast is one of the favorite things I’ve ever done in my career.”
