Common, Angela Bassett To Read Ta-Nehisi Coates ‘Between the World and Me’ At The Apollo Theater
Common, Angela Bassett and This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson will hold a staged reading of Between the World and Me on April 2-3.
If you haven’t read, but been wanting to ingest Ta-Nehisi Coates’ award-winning book, Between the World and Me — don’t worry, Common and Angela Bassett got you covered.
Along with This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson, the trio will hold a staged reading of Coates’ 2015 book at New York’s Apollo Theater on April 2-3.
Different performers will take the stage each night, with Common and Bassett being joined by Tony-nominated actress Michelle Wilson on April 2; Watson will read on April 3, along with Pauletta Washington.
Jason Moran, the Grammy-nominated jazz impresario, will contribute music to the program, which will be helmed by Apollo’s own executive producer, Kamilah Forbes. Coates and Moran collaborated with Forbes for the development of this project, which incorporates staged readings from Coates’ text with video projections and Moran’s compositions.
